My unrepeatable team

My unrepeatable team

I don’t know if everyone has a project like this.
But I do.
And I know that those who were with me back then – and who today are, for the most part, my close friends – feel exactly the same.

For someone, it was their first project.
For others, just another one.
And for some – one of the last before a well-deserved retirement.

For me, it wasn’t the first.
But it was the first one I remember with such affection.
The only one I still recall so fondly to this day.
And I know I’m not alone – we all remember it as the most special one.

Not because everything went smoothly.
Not because we followed the plan.
And definitely not because it was easy or profitable.

But because something happened that you can’t plan.
Everything that usually doesn’t align – somehow did:
personalities, chaos, pace, emotions… and goodwill.

Everyone gave more than what was in their job description.
There was frustration, there was joy, there was stress, there were jokes.
There was life – not just status updates.

And even though none of us named it at the time,
today we know it was a project like no other.
The kind you remember more as a feeling than a task.

Because what happened then was magic –
the kind that only happens once.

And though we may not have noticed it back then,
today we all feel it.
And even though each of us has since gone our own way –
with unique stories, new projects, fresh experiences, a changed reality, and new challenges – we are not the same people we were.

Still, sometimes when we run into each other, someone says:
“Hey, do you remember when we…?”

And for a moment, the vibe of that team comes back.
That collaboration.
That rare mix of calm, tension, and excitement.

Sometimes we think:
“Maybe we should do something together again someday?”
But maybe we shouldn’t.
Maybe that memory should stay exactly as it was:
Unrepeatable.
